Students in one Australian state are being prohibited from wearing denim because it may cause a good time.

A spokesman for Western Australian state Education Minister Ljiljanna Ravlich says denim is associated with weekend wear and recreational time.

He adds the fabric is unacceptable at schools where they are trying to raise standards.

Demin will be banned in Western Australia's secondary schools starting in 2007.
