A mother threw her baby to safety after their apartment building burst into flames, according to an ABC news report. The fire broke out on the top floor of the building near 83rd and Ingleside, in Chicago, Wednesday night.

Doctors are trying to save the life of an 11-month-old baby shot in the head by a bullet that fell from the sky Monday night. Police believe the bullet was fired into the air as part of a July 4th celebration. Baby Alyssa is currently being treated at UNM Hospital in critical condition, where she underwent surgery to help repair the gunshot wound in her head and shoulder. She remains in pediatric intensive care.

Doctors said Friday a Peruvian woman has given birth to a boy they have dubbed the "lobster baby" because of a rare condition known as arthrogryposis, or curvature of the joints, in which his arms and legs are deformed and wrapped around his body, like claws. Moises Chavez is one of the only babies worldwide born with all four limbs affected. The one-month-old was born in Peru's central Andes and brought to Lima this week.

Authorities say woman shoplifter in abandons her three-month-old baby after being caught stealing from a supermarket. A police spokesman in the town of Offenbach just south of Frankfurt says, "When the security man told the woman to enter his office so he could check her identification, the perpetrator took off, leaving behind the baby and the pram. "

The Nation newspaper reported an 18-year-old Thai gave birth in the passenger seat of a Mercedes Benz which was doing 85 miles per hour. Juthamas Srimongkol was only seven months pregnant when she went into labor Wednesday. She was raced to the hospital in her father-in-law's vehicle, when she delivered her son 12 miles away from the hospital.
