A teenage woman in Sweden has won a highly publicized complaint against cell phone firm Three over charges on unwanted and sexually explicit text messages.
According to a report by Boras Tidning, Emelie Magnusson, 18, received a large number of obscene text messages. She received one stating that big-breasted 18-year-olds would cost 20 kronor ($2.70). Magnusson ignored and deleted the text messages.
A month later, Magnusson received her bill. She was charged 1,660 kronor ($220) for the pornographic text messages. She complained to Three and was told to pay and forward her complaint to Stratus, the British company that sent the texts.
The obscene text messages continued despite the complaint, and in July she received another bill charging her for an additional 1,170 kronor ($160) to her debt. Magnusson's cell phone service was cut.
After local newspapers covered her tirade with Three, the cell phone company reversed its stance and agreed to restore Magnusson's service and pay damages for the duration she had no service.
