True believers are flocking to the Vietnamese Catholic Martyrs Church in Sacramento, where red liquid is apparently dripping from the left eye of a statue of the Virgin Mary. Crowds of pilgrims are filing in by the hundreds, carrying cameras, flowers and candles. Many pray for blessings, like Bao and Amber Tran, who brought their newborn son.

An unorthodox punishment has one mother's disciplinary actions under scrutiny. After misbehaving at school, her 14-year-old daughter was forced to stand on an Oklahoma City street corner bearing a sign reading, "I don't do my homework and I act up in school -- will work for food. " Tasha Henderson says the punishment followed her daughter Coretha's bad grades, chronic tardiness and talking back to teachers.

A hair cut that went a little too far has cost a Tokyo hair salon over $2,000. A female customer has sued the hair salon for cutting her hair too short and dying it the wrong color. A Tokyo court agreed with the 27-year-old cabaret club hostess's claim that the unflattering hairstyle had affected her ability to do her job, the English language Daily Yomiuri newspaper said on Thursday.

Hookah smoking, the latest alternative habit to cigarette smoking, is found to be more harmful users' health then originally thought. A new study in the November issue of the Journal of Periodontology finds hookah smoking is just as bad, and in some cases worse, than cigarette smoking for users' teeth.
