Palm Desert, CA - (AHN) A bomb squad was called to investigate at a Palm Desert, California, fire station on Sunday when they were alerted that a woman had dropped off a suspicious-looking package. Upon inspection, the package turned out to be a bag of doughnuts.

When the woman who dropped off the package entered the Palm Desert Riverside County Fire station around 11:20 p.m., firefighters mistakenly thought she was a woman who often comes to the station to berate them.

The captain of the Riverside County Fire station, John Harvey, said the woman left some loose papers along with the package.

Two busy thoroughfares, Portola Avenue and Country Club Drive, were closed by the bomb squad for about an hour to deal with the paper bag.

Deputy Chris Durham of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said the package "turned out to be a bag of doughnuts and a thank-you note."

"Apparently she was thanking the firefighters for all their hard work," he said.
