Girl Survives Internal Injuries Caused By Eaten Magnets, Steel Balls

An eight-year-old girl from Indiana has survived surgery to seal off internal ruptures caused by 30 magnets and steel balls from a toy she had eaten. Haley Lents was interviewed on the Early Show on Monday and told the TV show's co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez that she ate the magnets and steel balls because they looked like candies, according to CBS News.

Taiwan 'Super Toilet' Coming To U.S. In 2009

Taiwan's version of a "super toilet," which uses even less water for flushing than regular water-saving toilets, will hit U. S. stores early next year. The super toilet developed by Chen Wei-lung, an assistant professor at Chaoyang University of Technology's Department of Industrial Design, with help from the local industry, can flush 99 percent of 100 resin balls with only four liters of water during tests. The industry standard is 95 percent flushing efficiency.

PGA Golfer Faces Jail For Killing Hawk "On Purpose"

PGA Tour golfer John Henry "Tripp" Isenhour III has apologized after he was charged on Wednesday with killing a hawk on purpose with a golf shot because it was making noise as he videotaped a TV show. The 39-year-old Georgia Tech graduate was charged with cruelty to animals and killing a migratory bird. He was at the Grand Cypress Golf Course on Dec. 12 to film "Shoot Like A Pro" when he became annoyed with the shrieking hawk.

Artist Mounts Great Balls Of Protest

An unconventional artist who became notorious for turning the Trevi Fountain in Rome into a surreal pool of blood two weeks ago, mounted another protest action, this time using more than a million multi-colored plastic balls which he released from the top of Rome's famous Spanish Steps. "This was an artistic gesture to demonstrate the problems we have in Italy and to do so, I used art," Graziano Cecchini said of his latest stunt. "Both the Left and the Right are telling us so many lies and I and the Italians have had enough. They have broken our balls and hence this live art display. "

Golf Balls From Inside Snake Sell For $1,253

Golf balls swallowed by and extracted from a snake were placed for sale on eBay, with the highest bid totalling $1,401 Australian, or $1,253 US. The four balls which were taken from inside a carpet python at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary last week were posted for sale on the online auction, still unwashed. The winner will also receive X-rays and photographs of Augusta, the python, with the balls still inside, and after the balls were taken out by surgery.
