Police have recovered about 79 garden gnomes that were stolen. The gnomes were found along the banks of a stream in the central Limousin region with a sign that said "gnome mistreated, gnome liberated. " Last month, 86 gnomes were found in the yard of a high school. Others were discovered on the outskirts of the city.

A Russian man has apparently broken a world record by fasting for 50 days. The 46-year-old, Agasi Vartanyan, emerged Monday from the elevated, plastic cubicle where he had been since Aug. 27. For 50 days, Vartanyan reportedly ate nothing but survived on 0. 8 gallons of water a day. To pass the time, he watched TV, listened to the radio, and talked on his cell phone. Since the cubicle was situated on the banks of the Neva River outside of St. Petersburg, Vartanyan had got an electric heater in his temporary home.

Thieves have come up with a new way to steal money - they carry it away with a forklift. Around the country, police are reporting thieves are stealing forklifts from construction sites and taking ATMs with them. The thefts have happened this summer in Arizona, California and Georgia. Phoenix has had 21 attempts alone. ATM manufacturers are working on ways to stop the thefts.

A Greek bank robber used ninja throwing stars to heist 11 small suburban bank branches and taking off with a total of $63,590. Petros Onen, 49, threatened to use razor-sharp, palm-size stars like the ones carried by Japanese ninja warriors against cashiers.

A bank in Japan finds a great way to bring in more customers - give away free money. Banks in the country have long fought for new customers. Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank Ltd says since it announced that customers can win money by playing a roulette game at its ATMs, they have seen a surge in new accounts.
