A Deputy in Florida has been fired, after allegedly posting "inappropriate information" on his MySpace. com homepage. The social networking website, which is often in the news as a medium for child predators to catch their prey, was the basis for a Marion County sheriff's deputy to be charged with conduct unbecoming an officer.

A federal court rules Friday that a student's free speech rights were violated after he was suspended for holding a banner reading "Bong Hits 4 Jesus," across from the school. Juneau-Douglas High School in Alaska disciplined Joseph Frederick for unfurling the banner, which refers to marijuana, in Jan. 2002.

Hundreds of German soccer fans shook large inflatable penises at Schalke 04 fans on Saturday. Supporters of the visiting Borussia Dortmund team held the blown-up pink genitals along with a banner suggesting that Schalke fans should procreate with themselves, reports Reuters.

An activist for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) was arrested Wednesday afternoon in downtown Minneapolis, not for her protesting, but for her chosen attire, or lack there of, while doing it. A nude Michelle Y. Cho, 24, of Los Angeles, while protesting outside the Minnesota Pork Congress, labeled her exposed body parts to represent cuts of meat and sat below a banner reading, "All Animals Have the Same Parts. Go Vegetarian. "

For the first time ever, Greenville County in South Carolina will officially observe the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday Monday. The county is last in the state to do so. Officials voted last year, after pushing by Rev. Jesse Jackson for years and years, to observe the holiday. This gives employees a paid holiday to observe the third Monday in January.
