Two Australian miners who were freed after 14 days being trapped deep underground survived by drinking dirty run-off water, digging through rock and rubble with their bare hands, and joking about their fight for life, rescuers said. Brant Webb, 37, and Todd Russell, 34, walked free of the Beaconsfield Gold Mine on Tuesday after a cave-in on April 25 killed a third miner, Larry Knight.

A nudist suffered burns to one-fifth of his body after he tried to set a spider on fire while naked in a resort near the Australian city of Bowral, near Sydney. An ambulance service spokesperson said, the 56-year-old victim tried to kill what he thought was a deadly funnel web spider by pouring gasoline down the spider's burrow and lighting it with a match.

Animal Rights Activists Bare All for Protest

Animal rights activists staged a nude protest Saturday in northeastern Barcelona to demonstrate against the torture and killing of animals to make fur coasts. 70 men and women curled up on the pavement outside Barcelona's City Hall. The protest, staged by AnimaNaturalis and PETA international animal rights groups, was watched by several dozen passers-by. In a statement, AnimaNaturalis said millions of animals were captured, tortured and killed each year to make fur coats. In Spain alone, 26 million animals - among them rabbits, foxes, minks and lambs - were killed in 2003 to make coats, the group said.
