Officials of St. Louis, Missouri have come up with a bill banning swearing, table-dancing, drinking contests and profane music in bars in St. Charles to keep crowds from getting too rowdy. But the bill introduced by City Councilman Richard Veit is facing challenge from owners of bars along Main Street as they believe the proposed ban violate their civil rights. They have sought revisions to the bill.

India has finally come of age and finally abolished a 93-year-old law banning women from tendering bars and entertaining guests. The Supreme Court of India on Thursday annulled the 1914 statute, giving women the equal opportunity to enter bartending, one of the more lucrative jobs in the India's thriving economy.

The famed Oktoberfest in Europe is long over but beer continues to be in very high demand in Ireland - so much so that thieves stole on Wednesday 450 full kegs of beer from the Guinness brewery. The bandit hauled away 180 kegs of Guinness stout, 90 kegs of Danish beer Carlsberg and 180 kegs of U. S. lager Budweiser, said to be the largest heist in the 248-year history of Ireland's largest brewer.

A grey squirrel had to be rescued from a bird feeder after eating so many peanuts that it could not squeeze itself out through the bars, the RSPCA (Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty against Animals) said Thursday. A worried resident in Dorset, England, called RSPCA inspector Graham Hammond on October 17 after finding the squirrel stuck in the peanut-filled feeder.
