A man suspected of theft was found clinging to a rail after impaling his feet onto a spiked fence while trying to escape from guards. According to reports, Mthandani Nqetho managed to free one foot, but was unable to reach the other foot, hence leaving him dangling on the fence.

A boomerang stolen from a local museum was returned by the same tourist who took it 25 years ago. The artifact was put on display at Mt. Isa's Frank Aston Underground Museum, which is now closed. It was taken by an American tourist whose guilt urged him to return it, complete with an apology.

A television advertisement for a chain of electrical stores denying the existence of Father Frost, Russia's version of Santa Claus, has been banned by the Russian government. According to the BBC, the Federal anti-Monopoly Service found the advertisement for Eto electrical stores had broken rules for advertisers not to discredit parents and teachers when it declared that Father Frost was non-existent.

A secret door which led to the hideaway of "canoe man" John Darwin during the years he was "missing" was discovered by the current tenant of the former Darwin residence. The passageway was in a cupboard with a fake wall, which opened to a passageway to a small living space. Police believe that Darwin would go from the bedroom he shared with wife Anne, and go down the passage into the room, whenever Anne would have visitors.
