According to an ABC news report, bee hives by the thousands are being stolen. Beekeepers in Tasmania estimate thefts totaling approximately $100,000.
According to the experts, each bee hive, if pollinated, is worth $80 to $100.
Beekeepers believe the thefts must be occurring from people who work within their own trade. They do not believe it would not be very likely for the individual outside of this industry to attempt such a theft for fear of being severely stung in the process.
