The United States wins the annual Stella Artois World Draught Master Competition, a contest that rewards the world's best pourer of Belgian beers. A Japanese soft drink bottled and made to look like beer, may soon be available throughout Europe, but watchdogs of underage drinking say they will fight any effort to ship it to the United States, reports The New York Times. The world's strongest beer has been developed by a German brewer. It is so strong, that the brewer suggests consumption by a shot glass rather than a cold mug. The potent drink has an alcohol content of a staggering 25. 4 percent. Bavarian brewer Harald Schneider, who lives in southern Germany where beer is a strong tradition, says his beer fermented for 12 weeks for an alcohol content twice that of the country's strongest known beers.
