The famed Oktoberfest in Europe is long over but beer continues to be in very high demand in Ireland - so much so that thieves stole on Wednesday 450 full kegs of beer from the Guinness brewery. The bandit hauled away 180 kegs of Guinness stout, 90 kegs of Danish beer Carlsberg and 180 kegs of U. S. lager Budweiser, said to be the largest heist in the 248-year history of Ireland's largest brewer.

Angered because his wife did not buy beer, a man shot one of the family's two pet goats. The man, 48-year old Peter W. Mischler, was said to have come home from a hunting trip, and was enraged to find out that his 22-year old daughter had let the goats out, allowing the animals to make a mess.

Not about to run out of ideas, beverage company Jones Soda Co. is giving a new twist to ham this Christmas season - it's in liquid form. The Seattle-based firm launches Sunday is holiday-themed limited-edition flavored soda packs and ham-flavor soda is included in the outrageous roster this year.

After attending a funeral, a drunken mourner stole a hearse to go fishing. Funeral directors tried to recover the $15,200 Ford Forte hearse by pursuing the thief but the 46-year-old drunkard easily shook them off.

A 77-year-old Swedish retiree Per-Eric Henriccson was asked by a local supermarket to show his identification card to prove that he was of legal age to purchase one case of beer. Henricsson requested that the National Association of Senior Citizens contact the ICA supermarket in Galliver to demand the elderly be able to purchase what they want without showing their card.
