A proud father from West Midlands, England is expected to win over $ 750,000 for placing a series of bets on his son becoming a professional football player. His son, now 16, has been recently drafted in the West Brom soccer team. According to The Sun, Garry Nicholls, 45, placed a $285 bet on his son becoming a football player some 10 years ago.

Castro is confined to a bed after undergoing a surgery for intestinal bleeding. Last week, he temporarily relinquished powers to his younger brother. According to a report published Thursday, people online are placing bets on which day or month the 79-year-old Cuban president will die.

A woman who placed a 10-cent bet at a Michigan horse track and won $21,584. The bet was made at Sports Creek Raceway in Swartz Creek, about 55 miles northwest of Detroit. The woman placed two 10-cent Superfecta bets on a race being simulcast from the Hollywood Park track in Inglewood, California. The Superfecta requires gamblers to pick the four top-finishing horses in correct order. "One of them won," said Sports Creek general manager Chris Locking, reported The Detroit News. She returned to the track to collect her winnings.
