An archbishop held a Sunday worship service sans crown, after the item was stolen from his car Friday night.
Bishop Metropolitan Isaiah of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America commented on his appearance without his crown, noting it to have been the first time since 1985 that he led a Sunday service without it.
Isaiah's lack of his crown during Sunday service at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church was the result of a Friday night incident wherein thieves had broken into the bishop's parked car near a restaurant and made off with the crown, among other things. Isaiah expressed his frustration, saying he parked his car in a well-lit area.
A reward for the return of the crown was offered.
The bishop said he was willing to forgive the thieves.
