A local cattle rancher is reportedly investigating what he called "space junk": a chunk of metal, most likely a piece of a U. S. rocket, he found in his backyard. The rancher, James Stirton, found the black piece of metal at his place in Cheepie last year as he was checking his cattle.

Two residents of Hawaii have asked a district court in Honolulu to stop the Department of Energy and its partners from constructing a particle accelerator facility on the border between France and Switzerland. Walter F. Wagner and Luis Sancho's federal lawsuit filed Monday also seeks to delay the opening of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) pending its safety inspection on grounds that the gigantic atom smasher that physicists will use to study the origin of the universe could accidentally create "strangelet," an unknown matter, or an expanding black hole that both could destroy the Earth.

Authorities at a woman's house discovered a black python that they said might have been in the residence for two months, without the woman's knowledge. Officers from animal control received the report from the woman, who had been living in her apartment for two months, was watching television when the snake slithered out from behind the set.

An Oregon town mayor has been kicked out from her post after posing on a fire truck in her black bra and underwear. According to city officials, Mayor Carmen Kontur-Gronquist narrowly lost in Monday's recall election, 142-139, in a town with 500 registered voters. The recall is effective Tuesday.

A prison guard who was terminated from her job after posing for the men's magazine Playboy was recently reinstated at the Berks County Prison. Twenty-nine year old Heather Hull was terminated from her post as a corrections officer after a co-worker spotted her in the March issue, in the "Employee of the Month" section. In the photo Hull was given a false name, and her hair was dyed black, from blonde.
