Shoplifter Stabs Self While Hiding Knives In Pants

A Michigan man attempting to shoplift from a local store stuffed a number of hunting knives down his pants, tripped while trying to flee the store, and stabbed himself. The 26-year old suspect, who was said to have attempted to steal $300 worth of knives from the Knapp's Corner Meijer store, sustained puncture wounds to his abdomen, said officials. Recounting the incident, police said that the man got into a scuffle with the security guards, resulting in him falling on the knives.

Police charged Lawrence Douglas Harris Sr. with two counts for the first-degree murder of his stepdaughters after authorities arrived Sunday at his burning home in Sioux City, Iowa, and found the girls in their second-story bedroom and blood on Harris, police said Monday.

A dog was taken to a local veterinary clinic in Austria with the animal displaying symptoms including constant vomiting and swaying side to side. The vet said it was apparent the dog was drunk. "When I got him up on the table, it smelled like a distillery," said Karl Hofbauer of the Oberoesterreichische Nachrichten in the Salzkammergut region.

Hawaiian Airlines will refund a would-be passenger a full $225 it collected as a processing fee after she canceled a Hawaii trip for three. Jane Wilkens was supposed to travel with her 77-year-old mother and a family friend, but her mother passed away unexpectedly on September. When Wilkens asked for a refund for $4,287, Hawaiian Airlines tacked a $225 processing fee. Before Jane's mother could make the trip, she underwent surgery for a back problem, but she died three days later from a blood clot.
