A 114-year old woman from Chicago registered to vote in the U. S. elections on Thursday. Virginia Call was visited by the chairman of the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners to enlist in the official book of voters, thus enabling her to participate in the presidential polls next month.

A 7-year old boy announced his plans to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, after watching a news feature of a man who attempted to do the same, but failed. With his gear gathered, he is setting to scale the mountain for approximately five months, with the help of his father. Keats Boyd insisted on his aim, wanting to be "the youngest climber to ever reach the summit. "

A virtual nuclear fusion reaction has been modeled on a supercomputer running for 20 minutes on bicycle power pedaled by 10 cyclists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The students duly claimed a world record for human-powered computing, saying the task produced more computations in those 20 minutes than all of humanity did in the first 3,000 years of civilization. They also said that more arithmetic calculations were computed than were done on the entire earth up to 1960.

A book with a lock of John Lennon's hair will be put up for auction on Wednesday, and experts predict that it could go for as much as $6,200. The book "A Spaniard in the Works" was the same one Lennon gave to Betty Glasgow, the official Beatles hairdresser, with the lock of hair purposely inserted inside. Inside the book can be found the inscription, "To Betty, Lots of Love and Hair, John Lennon. "

A trained paramedic from Pennsylvania literally landed on the 2008 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records by accident. Matthew McKnight, 29, now holds the record for "Greatest Distance Thrown in a Car Accident" after Guinness recognized his amazing feat of being thrown 118 feet (36 meters) by a car that him in a 2001 accident.
