A Chicago-based product developer has come up with a transparent toaster which it claims could help "make burnt toast a thing of the past. "Inventables said its new toaster made of glass lets the person see the bread as it browns.

Here's some welcome news for those who love to hate washing the dishes after eating. A food firm based in Birmingham has invented a bowl totally made out of bread which could be filled up with soup - , chili or curry, before the diner gets to gulp down the bowl too.

A 53-year old housewife used her underwear to put out a fire that threatened the family home. Jenny Marsey said her son and nephew grabbed her size 18 - 20 cotton lingerie from a pile of washing, doused them in water, and threw them over the fire which broke out while they were trying to fry some bread.

As National Sandwich Month begins a study reveals the most popular sandwich amongst Americans. According to the study the "Monte Cristo" sandwich, composed of ham, chicken, and Swiss cheese is the favorite sandwich choice. A Texas A&M University study also reveals that Americans eat more than 45 million sandwiches annually with an average U. S. citizen consuming about 200 sandwiches a year. The study also estimates that an average child will eat around 1,500 peanut butter-and-jelly sandwiches before graduating from high school.
