No one saw this one coming. Joey Buttafuoco, who in the early 90's made headlines for sleeping with then 17-year-old Amy Fisher and sparking a national interest in the 'Long Island Lolita' case, is now working as an ice-cream man on the set of the hit show "Desperate Housewives" and "Crossing Jordan."
During the Long Island drama, which kept water coolers in offices across the nation buzzing with gossip, his then girlfriend Fisher shot his wife Mary Jo in the face, leaving her severely injured and partially paralyzed - an incident that provided the inspiration for no fewer than three made-for-TV movies.
Buttafuoco, a former auto-shop mechanic, pleaded guilty to one count of statutory rape and served four months in prison.
Hoping to capitalize on his newfound infamy after his release, he and wife Mary Jo moved to California to pursue show business dreams, to later fail in realizing those dreams and ending in divorce.
Buttafuoco now finds himself in similar desperate surroundings, charging $250 an hour to keep Housewive actresses such as Teri Hatcher and Eva Longoria cool with ice cream refreshments. He is also working on a screenplay based on the events of his life.
