A Chinese woman gave birth to her son on the side of the road earlier this month when the man who was driving her cab kicked her out because she was going into labor. The cabbie stopped the taxi at a traffic light and forced the couple to get out, shouting "Don't deliver the baby in my car, or I'll have bad luck throughout the year!"

The Beijing News reported the woman, whose last name is Wang, was on her way to a hospital in the southwestern city of Chongquig.

The report said Wang "had to crouch on the roadside under the scorching sun and the husband tried to hail another taxi, but none of the 11 passing by stopped." It was 106 degrees that day.

The scene drew a crowed, and somebody called for an ambulance. When it arrived two hours later Wang had already delivered her 7.5-pound baby boy.
