Kirk Heldreth's dairy farm is drawing residents with the birth of a calf with two faces. The animal is normal apart from its unusually large head that contains two noses and has two tongues that move separately.

The calf was born on Dec. 27 at Heldreth Dairy Farm. "It's the craziest thing I've ever seen," the dairyman said.

He admits that when the calf was born, he had thought there were two calves.

The calf also has two lower jaws but with only one mouth. It is now being fed through a tube.

The animal is a result of artificial insemination. "Genetically, this is one of my better calves," he adds.

Bob James, a professor in the dairy science department at Virginia Tech said such incidents are unusual.

"In my 25 years, I've seen it maybe two or three times, but it's pretty rare," he said.
