A California man set a new world record for hot dog eating. Joey Chestnut, 23, ate 59 1/2 hot dogs and buns in 12 minutes.
The record was set at the Southwest Regional Hot Dog Eating Championship in Tempe, AZ.
For his victory, Chestnut won a year's supply of hot dogs, a trip to New York and a $250 gift card to the mall where the competition was held.
Previously, Takeru Kobayashi of Japan held the record at 53 3/4 hot dogs and buns. Chestnut came in second place at last year's world championships.
