Police in California seized hundreds of pot plants, $384,000 in cash and arrested six people in connection with marijuana grow houses.
Eight warrants were served Tuesday and marijuana plants were found at indoor grow operations in two large, well-maintained upscale suburban homes in El Dorado Hills and Placerville. The other warrants were served in Cameron Park - where marijuana growing equipment was found - and in Placerville, Lincoln, Sacramento and Elk Grove.
Authorities say that some of the six people arrested were related to each other. Federal and local drug agents reportedly linked all the grow houses to a Sacramento organization.
They also said that although large indoor marijuana grow operations have been found inside houses in the past, that those were in vacant houses. These operations were different because the homes were occupied.
Two adults and a child were living in the El Dorado Hills house where 797 marijuana plants were growing and electricity had been rerouted to bypass the electric meter. One person was arrested there and two people were arrested at the Placerville home where 507 marijuana plants were growing.
