Jeanette Passalaqua, 32, has filed a suit against Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Southern California Permanente Medical Group Inc. , in San Bernardino County state court. In June 2004, Passalaqua's husband, Steven Passalaqua, was asked by Kaiser staff to hold and steady his wife while an employee inserted an epidural needle into her back, court papers said.

A Louisiana woman is suing restaurant company Applebee's International Inc. , charging she found a severed fingertip in her salad. The lawsuit - the second filed in the United States this year involving a severed finger in restaurant food - was filed last week in state court in Jefferson, Louisiana.

Time is on Paul Kramer's side. The 61-year-old man rode a bike 4,200 miles, from Southern California to suburban Cleveland, to attend his niece's wedding. He says he started the trip on April 12 and had enough time to spare, so he decided to squeeze in a trip to Pittsburgh. He is carrying about 60 pounds of camping equipment on his bicycle.
