Anna Falco, a 53-year old woman from Woodbridge, won the jackpot at the Casino Rama, allowing her to celebrate Easter wealthier by $8.7 million.

Falco bet $2.93 each spin to get the jackpot and she had already spent $195 when she made the hit of a lifetime.

Publicist Jenna Hunter of Casino Rama said Falco and husband Franco were casino regulars whom everybody knew. "We couldn't be more thrilled, They are such nice people," Hunter said.

Falco was handed a check for an amount considered a record-breaker in Canadian gambling history. In a Casino Rama news release, Falco said, "When we called our two daughters to share the good news, they thought we were kidding."

Anna is a housewife, while Franco is a retiree. Falco dislodged the October 2004 record held by a Toronto tax accountant who won $5.65 million at a slot machine at Niagara's Fallsview casino.
