The continuous rise of gas prices has caused another shortage among service stations in the U. S. Pump station owners have to look for extra number 4s as retail price reaches a record $4. 40 a gallon. Some owners resort to using other digits like the number 1 and and then add a stroke or two to make an improvised pump price display.

Failing to bring proper identification cards with him, the mayor of Charleston, West Virginia used a magazine that featured him on the cover to get through a United States airport. Danny Jones was making his way through the security line at a California airport when he realized his driver's license was lost.

Even death will not stop Chet Fitch from sending Christmas cards to his friends. His cards, with "Heaven" written as the return address and with his signature on it, were received by his 34 friends before Christmas or two months after Fitch died at age 88.

A man from Washington went to the extreme of dramatizing his protest against what he called the commercialization of Christmas by nailing Santa Claus to a 15-foot crucifix in front of his house. Art Conrad even took a photo of his crucified Santa to adorn the Christmas cards he sent to friends and relatives with a message, "Santa died for your MasterCard. "Conrad said, "Santa has been perverted from who he started out to be. Now he's the person being used by corporations to get us to buy more stuff. ''
