U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents in Laredo, Texas seized $302,785 at a border crossing. The money was hidden in detergent boxes.
A 28-year-old Mexican man was driving a Chevrolet Suburban across the Lincoln-Jaurez international bridge when he was pulled over the agents Saturday. A Border Patrol dog initiated the search of the man's grocery bags, the UPI reported.
The agents found $302,875 in undeclared U.S. currency stuffed inside three boxes of laundry detergent, the San Antonio Express-News reported.
The investigation is continuing, and no arrests have been made. It's a violation of U.S. federal law to not declare more than $10,000 when coming to or leaving the U.S.
