Without food and water for nearly two months, a cat accidentally locked in a garden shed by her owner survived by licking condensation off the windows.

According to her owner, he had almost given up Emmy for lost after the ten-year old cat failed to show up.

Little did he know that he had accidentally imprisoned her after she followed him into the family garden shed in Toray, Devon, which he says, he locked up for the winter.

When the family found Emmy inside the garden shed, she was almost skin and bones. They also found tongue marks on the glass window prompting them to surmise that the cat managed to survive by licking the condensation of the window.

Her owner had since left Emmy under the care of the Blue Cross animal center after his family moved out of Devon.

"The family had been upset at the accidental distress they caused the 10-year-old cat," said center manager Laura Valentine.

"She is absolutely fine now and is a little fighter," Valentine added.
