A 78-year-old woman is arrested after lacing a can of cat food with rat poison to ensure her neighbor's cats stayed away from her backyard. Myrtle Maly has been charged with two felony counts of animal mistreatment after admitting to officers to placing D-Con rodent killer in a can of "Special Kitty Salmon Dinner" cat food. The woman set the trap for her neighbor's cats, Tangerine and Tiger, after the two snuck into her backyard and attacked some birds.

Gemini, the two-headed kitten born earlier this month, died Thursday in the town of Glide. Owner Lee Bluetear says she doesn't know what caused the the death, but she did notice the kitten appeared tired and did not want to eat.

Japanese investigators conclude that a January house fire in the western city of Kobe ignited after two kittens urinated on a fax machine, soaking the machine's printing mechanism, which generated a spark that burned down the kitchen and living room. The house's owner managed to put out the fire and was later treated for smoke inhalation. The two kittens escaped unharmed.

On Saturday, someone dressed up as Darth Vader robbed The Showplace Eight Theater in Springfield, Illinois. According to police, the unarmed man blended in with moviegoers, pushed an employee away from the register, grabbed the cash inside and ran into the woods.

Marlene Kess, who has a reputation as a cat lover, running a "no-kill" animal shelter in Manhattan, was charged with health code violations after 200 dead cats were discovered in her backyard, rotting away in garbage bags. According to Sgt. Joseph Bierman of the state's Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, it appeared the dead cats were going to be buried in a large hole that had been dug.
