A woman charged with 118 counts of animal cruelty was taken into custody Monday night. Donna Lee Bell, 59, of Whiteford, was arrested at her ex-husband's house in Essex in Baltimore County, where more than 40 dogs and cats were found dead at two houses.

The Iowa City Council has decided that anyone who feeds stray cats are aiding a nuisance and violators could be fined. Mayor Rodney Wagner says police could photograph people who feed stray cats.

They might not be able to cuddle or play fetch like most cats and dogs, but an Italian restaurant has been fined over $860 for its display of lobsters on ice to attract customers, in an innovative application of an anti-cruelty law usually applied to household pets. According to reports, a court in the northeastern city of Vicenza ruled the display was a form of abuse dooming the crustaceans to a slow death by suffocation.

Regina Fagone says her neighbor has euthanized three of her cats, the latest a Russian Blue cat. Fagone, 41, says her neighbor, Richard DeSantis, euthanized two cats in 1998, and the last one, Coal, this month.

Residents of the neighborhood of Sunset Circle say they have been terrorized by a crazy cat named Lewis, The Associated Press reports. Lewis, for his part, has been uniquely cited, personally issued a restraining order by the town's animal control officer.
