The closure of Interstate 95 for two days caused huge traffic congestion for a two mile stretch. The north east corridor was ordered to close down for emergency repairs. The closure affected both the northbound and the southbound lanes of the highway north of the city's central business district. Gene Blaum, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokesman told the Associated Press, "Obviously we feel it could compromise the strength of that section of the highway. The section of the interstate carries about 190. 000 vehicles a day, making the repair a major undertaking"

Without a reservoir dedicated to supplying the expanding Atlanta, Georgia-area with water, residents face shortages. The situation has caused Georgia lawmakers to claim an 1818 survey setting the boundary with Tennessee was faulty. Now Georgia wants to move the state lines to lay claim on the Tennessee River. A resolution to challenge the 1818 survey easily passed the Republican-controlled Georgia Senate and House, but Tennessee lawmakers say they won't cooperate with the effort.

A middle school coach was arrested and charged for leading a group of players into manipulating Christmas displays to depict images of a pornographic nature. John Hayes, 46, while driving around in his pickup truck with middle school varsity football team at the back, allegedly placed a homeowner's reindeer displays in sexual positions. The group also destroyed several Christmas decorations they came across.

In Manhattan, doormen with bad breath are at risk for suspension. The 60-year-old Jonah Seeman, who has been opening doors for tenants of four-building Gracie Gardens complex on East 89th Street for 40 years, has been thrice suspended because of halitosis.

Patients around the world relying on a little feel-good pain relief from nibbling on marijuana-laced snacks baked at a California factory will be out of luck because federal agents closed it down. Drug Enforcement Administration officials said agents raided the Tainted Inc. factory in Oakland on Wednesday and arrested several people. They also seized 460 marijuana plants along with a variety of pot-laced products intended for medical users of the drug. Those products included such things as barbecue sauce, chocolate-covered pretzels, candy bars, cookies, marshmallow pies, ice cream, peanut butter, jelly, energy drinks and "Rice Krispy treats. "
