A castaway cocker spaniel and his companion, a macaw parrot, were rescued by Norwegian Cruise Line workers from a tiny atoll about 1,000 miles south of Hawaii. Snickers, an 8-month-old dog, survived 95 days adrift on a 48-foot boat then four months of being stranded on Fanning Island, one of 33 scattered coral atolls that make up the remote island nation of Kiribati.

A six-legged frog has become an instant celebrity in China and has been repaying his newfound owner, a chef on a local restaurant by attracting diners. "I bought more than 5 kilos of frogs from the market the other day, and upon coming back found that one of them has six legs," says chef Xiao Song.

Each time a new Harry Potter book or movie is released, a 78-year-old man from Bradenton, Florida is inundated with interview request calls because he happens to share the same name with J. K. Rowling's fictional character. The retired Defense Department employee from Zaleski, Ohio, doesn't seem to be a fan of the boy wizard, as he hasn't had time to read any of the J. K. Rowling books or see the five hit movies. Potter, who often gets interview requests from the TV networks and autograph requests, says he has not been able to keep his phone off the hook since past few weeks. His wife Jan often jokes with the late night crank callers telling them he (Potter) is "busy, out flying. "

Inmates from a prison in Cebu, the Philippines, have become instant stars after videos of their synchronized dances have received over a million views on the popular website YouTube. The abs-cbnnews. com reported that the zombie dance performed by more than 1,000 inmates at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center to the tune of Michael Jackson's pop hit 'Thriller' has given the criminals instant celebrity.

Unlike Larry King, not every cable news broadcaster is keen on reporting the latest saga regarding the life and drama of heiress Paris Hilton. MSNBC journalist Mika Brzezinski, co-presenter of the Morning Joe program attempted to burn the script containing the latest on Paris Hilton's exit from jail as the lead story live on air. "I hate it and I don't think it should be our lead," she said, before tearing up and trying to set fire to script.
