A gang of Brazilian prisoners spent months planning and toiling to dig a tunnel in attempts to ensure their freedom. Little did they know the tunnel would lead them right into the prison yard. The prisoners at Timoteo prison in southern Brazil, dug out of their tunnel, which took 67 men several months to complete, just 12 inches shy of the main perimeter wall.

An Arizona man is sentenced to seven years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman sleeping next to him on a plane. During a Delta Airlines Flight from Dallas to Boston on April 5, Deepak Jahagirdar, 55, lays a blanket on a 22-year-old woman, unfastens her seatbelt, unbuttons her pants and touches her genitals.

Ian Rochfort is granted the first liscense allowing the use of cannibis seed in a food product, which he will use to develop and export Hemp Hound Hors d'oeuvers, dog biscuits containing contain hemp seed extracts, which is known to be rich in healthy amino acids. The liscensing stipulates the biscuits will undergo strict testing to ensure they contain no more than 50mg per kilogram of THC, and the product must carry a label reading, "not for human consumption. "

It's sounds like the plot from the Shawshank Redemption, L. A. Police are searching for an inmate they believe escaped through a hole he dug in his cell wall. Reuters reports the robbery suspect managed to cut an opening in the wall of his cell and escape through a 15-by-9-inch hole in just an hour.

The protective housing unit in Corcoran State Prison, about 50 miles south of Fresno, is considered the safest place for an inmate to reside within the California prison system. Designed to protect famous convicts from possible attacks, it houses mass murderers like Charles Manson, and high-profile criminals like Sirhan Sirhan, one of the first inmates placed in the unit, where he passed the time playing chess and working for 13 cents an hour as an administrative clerk.
