Until December 31, restrooms fit for a queen will be open to the public in Times Square to promote Charmin Toilet Paper.
The new complex is furnished with individual stalls, each with their own theme like Wall Street or Times Square. It also boasts a fancy waiting room with plush couches, flat screen televisions, a fire place and a kid's dance floor.
Not only did Charmin recruit "Everybody Loves Raymond" star Doris Roberts to promote the new complex but they also hired 30 workers to clean the stalls after each use and people to walk around the city with paper toilets on their jackets to give people directions if they need it.
In a city where it can cost $0.50 to use a port-a-potty style bathroom and restaurants enforce a strict "for customers only" rule for their restrooms, these free facilities furnished with porcelain sinks and toilets can come in handy.
Adam Lisook, assistant brand manager for Charmin said, "We wanted to get our product into the hands of consumers, and we figured this was an innovative way of doing it."
Charmin leased the Time Square space until the end of 2006.
