A woman charged with assualting a dog breeder with a dead Chihuahua puppy was adjudged guilty of misdemeanor assault and trespassing. Lisa Hopfer, 34, could be sentenced to up to 18 months in jail and charged a $1,500 fine. Trial evidence included X-rays and pictures of the dead dog, and testimony from dog breeder, Linda Hulsey.

A woman charged a pet cremation service and a photo agency for the unauthorized use of a photo of her with her deceased pet dogs. The lawsuit is filing for $3 million in damages. Gina Cecala filed the case in Manhattan state Supreme Court upon Matthews International and Getty Images.

The Underwater Music Festival had a brush with the King of Rock and Roll when an Elvis impersonator was among the snorkelers and divers who swam Looe Key Reef. Neil Goldberg, of Key West, dressed in a white-caped jumpsuit and flashy gold chains, joined several hundred visitors and residents who took the plunge for the six-hour weekend radio broadcast. "We even had a Chihuahua in goggles and a swim vest on one of the dive boats," festival founder Bill Becker told the Associated Press.

A woman accused of hitting a dog breeder 30 times in the head with a dead puppy has been charged with two misdemeanors but was reimbursed for the $100 puppy. Lisa Lynn Hopfer, 33, was told by a veterinarian that her newly purchased Chihuahua puppy was only four weeks old and too young to be away from its mother. Before she could return the puppy it died.

A Missouri woman angry at the death of her new puppy pushed her way into the dog breeder's home and repeatedly hit her on the head with the dead Chihuahua, authorities said. The 33-year-old woman told police that the puppy died when she was about to return it to the breeder after a veterinarian suggested her that the canine was too young and should be returned to its mother.
