Police may charge a California couple with neglect after they left their young children at home alone while they went to Las Vegas for the weekend.
Police have not been to interview the parents of the 5- and 9-year olds because they have been delayed by bad weather, reports The Associated Press
The couple left the children cereal to eat and the father's cell phone number in case of an emergency before leaving on Friday for their gambling trip.
One of the children's grandmothers, Libby Holden, called police when she found out that no parents were at home, says Brian Kilinowski, investigation supervisor for the San Ramon police south of San Francisco.
The children ate their cereal for breakfast and frozen foods heated in a microwave for their other meals. They are otherwise unharmed.
