A condom manufacturer in China has been ordered to stop the sales of condoms that bore the image of Lei Feng, a communist hero model worker from the 1960s.
The condom box displays the photo of Feng holding a gun and the manufacturer Zhang Zhiwen advertised them for sale on his website.
Xinhua, China's official, government controlled news agency, reported that Zhang's business license was also not valid.
Feng has been bequeathed as Chinese hero since the 1960s as a People's Liberation Army soldier who devoted himself to building China. He died in 1962.
Using famous people for condoms' branding is not a new trend in China. Earlier in September 2005, the Guangzhou Rubber Group produced two condoms with the brand names Clinton and Lewinsky, that also stirred the controversy.
