A Chinese university is making golf lessons a requirement for its law and business students as preparation for the business world.

Xiamen University joins the trend of Chinese schools to provide golf lessons, but unlike others, it will make it a required class.

The golf classes will also be a necessity for economics and computer software majors, the official Xinhua News Agency said.

"The aim is to help the students find good jobs," a Xiamen sports professor, Chen Xiao, said, "Many Chinese business deals are clinched on golf courses."

Top Peking University had previously sparked a debate on the appropriateness of golf for China when it announced that it was developing a practice green.
