Chinese authorities deported on Sunday and Monday six Canadian activists and even used the credit card of one of the deportees to buy his plane ticket.
Steve Andersen, 28, and a member of Students for a Free Tibet, arrived in Edmonton Monday evening. Undercover agents arrested, questioned, and deported him and a German-Tibetan woman on Sunday for unfurling a Tibetan flag near Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
"It was pretty clear I wasn't authorizing it," Andersen told The Canadian Press about his reaction when Chinese authorities used his credit card to send him home.
Greenpeace spokesperson Mike Hudema and other activists were also hounded by undercover policemen before they could participate in any protest. Their apartment was searched before they were detained and deported on Monday, Hudema, 32, said, according to CTV Edmonton.
The other Canadian deportees are Jasmine Freed, 28, Paul Christopher Baker, 29, Denise Ogonoski, 26, and William Nelson 32.
