Desperate to show off his girlfriend to his parents over the Lunar New Year holiday, a Chinese university student posted a notice saying he wanted to "rent" a girlfriend for 10 days.

Zhu Lijie, a physics student, posted the notice on a bulletin board at Peking University offering 1,000 yuan ($130) to a woman who would act as his girlfriend for the trip home for the Lunar New Year holiday, which starts Feb. 18 this year. It is touted as the most important family holiday in China.

According to Xinhua News Agency, Zhu's notice said he wanted "an honest, kind and similar-aged girl with a diploma."

Zhu had reportedly been too pressed with studies to find time to meet a potential partner. However, Peking University officials and the police have warned women to be cautious of such advertisements.
