Authorities in a Chinese town have launched a new open toilet palace which features 1,000 innovatively designed urinals set in Egyptian style facade.

While some of the urinals are shaped like a woman's mouth, others resemble the crocodile's mouth and the bust of a woman.

The urinal palace, named "Sunshine Toilet," is spread over an area of 32,290 square feet on the "Foreigners Street," a well-known tourist area.

According to the state-run China Central Television, the officials in Chongqing are even planning to submit an application to Guinness World Records to have the free public bathroom listed as the world's largest.

"We are spreading toilet culture. People can listen to gentle music and watch TV," CCTV quoted Lu Xiaoqing, an officer in-charge with the area as saying.

"After they use the bathroom they will be very, very happy," he said.
