In anticipation of the 2008 Summer Olympics, a Chinese groom had a wedding gown specially made for his bride measuring 200. 8 meters (658. 8 feet) long. Ken, who hails from the city Guangzhou, says he originally planned to make the dress 2008 meters long, in tribute to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games but buckled down later saying the additional 8 meters would make the gown more difficult to handle.

The huge food bill covers the meals of 280,000 athletes, Olympic officials, media and other workers from 200 nations as well as 5 million overseas and 120 million domestic tourists. It will be an unprecedented opportunity for the nation's catering sector which is used to making just $3. 2 billion (24 billion yuan) a year, said Bian Jiang, spokesman of the China Cuisine Association (CCA).

A Chinese city has come up with a novel invention, by mounting more than a dozen brooms on a tractor creating a street-cleaning machine. The street cleaner, which has become a source of amusement for tourists in Qinghuangdao city, in the province of Hebei province, however, can only move litter and dust to the side of the street where another has to clear it later.
