Punta Gorda, FL (AHN) -
Bar managers at Harpoon Harry's said they suspected something was wrong after discovering alcohol costs weren't adding up.
The eight-member crew not only stole liquor, but stole top-shelf liquor at that.
Bar manager Chris Evans said, "They were definitely going for the top-dollar stuff. Everything from Hennessy to Courvoisier."
Detectives revealed the cleaning crew was having nightly parties rather than actually working.
One member of the cleaning crew, Rashan Jones, admitted everyone knew they were being watched but he said he has no regrets, "They have cameras. I don't mind that they were watching me. I wasn't doing anything wrong."
Crew members alleged they were permitted one drink per shift to management's surprise.
Each of the suspects faces a possible five-year prison term.
Punta Gorda police said six members of the cleaning crew were convicted felons on probation.
