Gold Coast police on Sunday said they have fined a parent caught providing alcohol to a teenager during end-of-the-term school celebrations in Queensland, Australia. Queensland Police spokeswoman Melanie Loy said the parent, a woman, was slapped with a $600 fine.

United States Vice President Dick Cheney has reportedly taken up his rifle and has gone back to the shooting range Monday, in upstate New York. This time, the preferred location was the Hudson River Valley, where the vice president spent the entire day in the privacy of the Clove Valley Rod & Gun Club, located at Dutchess County, just outside of Lagrangeville.

U. S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice turned down requests to witness her ice-skating talents and warm up frosty U. S. -Russian relations during a visit to a rink in Russia, Friday. In a report Rice said that it had been 10 years since she last put her feet inside ice skates.

A U. S. appeals court has upheld a worker's compensation claim for a pole dancer who was injured while performing in a strip club six years ago. Court records show exotic dancer Angela Hobson undergoing a surgery for a herniated disc in her cervical spine (the seven vertebrae at the base of the skull) for the injuries at the Shangri-La West club in Fort Wayne on 20 December 2001.

An Indiana appeals court Tuesday ruled in favor of an exotic dancer who reportedly injured herself while pole dancing at a Ft. Wayne, Indiana strip club. According to court documents, Angela Hobson suffered injuries after performing a pole dance at the Shangri-La West club in December 2001. She said she reported soreness and numbness to her supervisors, which they later denied. Soon after the incident, she required surgery for a herniated disc in her cervical spine.
