CA Drivers Running Dry To Combat Rising Fuel Prices

Some California drivers are taking advantage of the freeway service patrol by deliberately running dry on the state's freeways and waiting for rescue. "Every time fuel goes up, we start noticing it. But right now we are noticing it a lot more," Andy Lujan, owner of California Coach Towing in Orange County, said on Tuesday.

Michael Oddenino, an attorney, filed a lawsuit in Superior Court claiming his daughter's softball coach, Don Riggio, inflicted emotional distress when he called her a "2-year-old" and frequently called other players idiots. The suit seeks $3 million for intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, negligence, a civil rights violation, and sexual discrimination. It claims Riggio "took advantage of his position of authority to engage in an abusive pattern of excessive intimidation and humiliation of the female players, frequently calling them `idiots,' and belittling them for minor errors. "

The group "Americans for More Civility" is honoring New York City residents for their 'forbearance and aplomb' during the transit strike that hit at the height of the holiday shopping season. In other words, people didn't lose their cool or poise when the buses and subways stopped running.

High School Coach Run Down In Mall Parking Lot

A former high school football coach was run down and critically injured after he yelled at a speeding driver to slow down in a mall parking lot. According to Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino, Morteza Bakhtiari, 26, of Costa Mesa was taken into custody late Friday at his home, 24 hours after hitting John Royston with a BMW at the Aliso Viejo Town Center and fleeing.
