Police report a man had something up his sleeve, it wound up being $10,000 in stolen cash. John Howard, 36, was arrested after police found the loot in his sleeve, money allegedly stolen from a Long Island post office, authorities said Wednesday. Police stopped Howard on Tuesday after he was seen behaving strangely on a street. According to police, Howard was disheveled and had a big bulge sticking out from his left sleeve.

Groundbreaking comedian Richard Pryor, whose stand-up routines about race, sex and life made him a modern day icon, is dead. He was 65. Pryor died after being rushed to a hospital from his home shortly after 8 a. m. Pryor had suffered from multiple sclerosis, a disease of the nervous system.

Ohio carried out the nation's 999th execution since 1977 on Tuesday. The macabre milestone of 1000 is scheduled for later in the week with another execution. John Hicks, 49, was put to death a day after Eric Nance was executed in Arkansas for killing a teenager by slicing her throat with a box cutter.

A night of drinking left a man with such a heavy buzz, he hopped into a police patrol car thinking he had hailed a cab. The 20-year-old man was arrested Saturday soon after he sat inside Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Deputy Esther Beckman's car, as she was questioning a bicyclist. The suspect's name has not been released.

After 18 years of living as a fugitive, an escaped inmate turns himself in. Hernando Hennessy-Rossi was 39 when he escaped from a federal minimum security prison camp at Eglin Air Force Base near Pensacola, Florida.
