A new law will go into effect on July 1 banning smoking tobacco indoors throughout the Netherlands. What this means for Amsterdam's historic coffee shops, where smoking tobacco laced with marijuana is more of the main draw, remains up for debate. According to reports, coffee shop owners say the new ban should not effect them because 'coffee shops' are a place where people go to smoke. They say it is preposterous for the ban to extend to their shops, just as it would be for food to be banned from restaurants, or alcohol from a bar.

A British supermarket employee has died from a fatal heart attack believed to have been caused by drinking too much of a popular energy drink. Alfredo Duran, 40, died from cardiac arrest in the Asda store where he worked. Duran was believed to have consumed four cans of Red Bull every night.

Coffee made from beans that have passed through the bowel of an Indonesian jungle cat is being sold by a department store here for $100 a cup. The coffee, called Caffe Raro, is made from a blend of a rare Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee, and another, Kupi Luwak, which is harvested from the droppings of civet cats.

A recent survey revealed that those who spend a reasonable amount of money on other people experience greater elation than those who buy things for themselves. Scientists from the Harvard Business School gathered 632 Americans and questioned them about their income, their spending habits, and their level of happiness. Separately, the experts gathered 16 professionals up for a bonus between $3,000 and $8,000, and asked them similar questions six to eight weeks before, and after the bonus.

eing stingy cost an Iranian man more after he was ordered by the court to buy his neglected wife 124,000 red roses worth a total of $265,000. Local newspaper Etemad reported that a woman named Hengameh claimed her mahr, or dowry after being married for ten years to her husband Shahin who according to her is so stingy that he cannot even pay for her coffee.
