Sales at a drive-in coffee shop in Salem, Oregon jumped tremendously after the owners decided to hire females wearing bikinis as waitresses. Coffee Nation owners Adam Marshall and Steven Rotan say they decided they needed to do something offbeat to attract customers after the state required they install a median that would block left-turn access into their business.

The Berlin Zoo's polar bear cub, Knut, has risen to fame ever since his picture appeared on Vanity Fair cover with Leonardo DiCaprio. The cub, which has his own line of souvenirs now, has nearly 15,000 people come to the zoo every day. The 4-month-old polar bear has stuffed toys selling in his name at the rate of 800 a day. Not only this, the amazingly adorable cub also has T-shirts, key chains, coffee mugs and other kitsch to his name in the market.

Filipino coffee traders called on villagers in Mountain Province to stop capturing and eating civet cats (Paradoxurus phippinensis) because a decline in the cat population would cause a decline in the supply of one of the world's most expensive coffee varieties. Civet cats eat ripe coffee berries, and local coffee traders gather the beans from their droppings to produce the most expensive coffee varieties in the world. The civet cat, locally known as motit or alamid, is a nocturnal animal that roams the forests of northern Philippines and dwells on rocks where fruit-bearing trees grow nearby.

Reading erotic literature was an extensive social activity in eighteenth century, according to a new study. A Ph. D. candidate at the University of Leeds conducted the study. The study rejected findings of previous studies which suggested that erotic texts were read in solitude, saying that the erotic texts were read aloud everywhere from alehouses to coffee shops.
